I took my girl and her friend to the SLC comic con. It was good and it was fun. I think they have a lot of stuff to work out for next year. For one it was way too packed. It was so crowded that you cant even enjoy the booths. Also I think that next year im going to have a day for the kids and a day for me. There were a lot of panels I wanted to go to but the kids did not want to go.
They had a lot of amazing cos play. They also had some robot R2D2s that the kids went crazy for. They also found some cool toys.
I totally didnt take enough pictures but we did have a lot of fun.

And now for take 2
Ok lets try this again.
So obviously because it has been so long a lot has change. In the terms of kids it might as well have been 20 years.
Dev is doing awesome. She is now in 4th grade and loving it. We lost a cat and gained another. We moved to a couple new apartments. Oh and I picked up a boyfriend. Sigh. And things have gotten better and worse and better and worse and better again with Dev's dad. Life is strange that way. It is all over the place right?
So here is where we are now. I have a super sweet kitty named Zen Nightshade. He is super crazy and fun. We still have Spooky Midnight Shadow.
They are both way awesome. Even if Spooky is grumpy all the time.
We moved to a new apartment and we love it a lot. It suits us well. Dev is really happy with it. She likes it a lot better then the other places we were living. She is going to be like me when she grows up talking about moving around a lot and when people ask Oh military kid? and she will say no just we moved a lot. At least she never has had to change schools. I always hated that.
She had the best school year last year. Her teacher was amazing and everything went really well. This year she has a new teacher and I am hoping that she continues to have amazing school years. So far so good. Dev really likes her new teacher. Her teacher is funny, fun, and keeps the kids engaged. Plus she is really good with working with Dev to help her with her LDs. She has her bff from last year in her class again and she said that she has made a couple new friends.
Christmas was awesome. She got spoiled entirely and we got totally hooked up with Legos. I spent the day building them with her.
This was the first summer I did not have Miss Dev in summer camp and it was a huge challenge but also we had fun. We spent some time at the zoo. With her friend Kir.
We took Mr. Zen on a picnic
Hiking
The Leo museum had a really cool new exhibit and I brought the kid krew to go see it. It ended up being a lot of fun and if you have not seen it I highly suggest you do. It is pretty cheap.

The kids all got robots and pizza. It is always amazing to me how Dev can get her friends together from different circles and totally different personalities and it always seems to work out pretty well.
Cuddle puddle in the middle of the exhibit. Yeah why not?
We have a new addition to our family. Kevin. Kevin brought a dog with him and has been pretty amazing. We have been together over a year and things just keep getting better. He is really good for me and Devi. Dev and him totally bonded over their art. Kevin is still a kid in a lot of ways (movies, art, imagination, and silliness) so they got along from the beginning.
He is really good for Dev and me. Totally supportive and not one of those guys I would normally date. Also he gets along with Devis dad so it takes some of our tension out. All in all life is good.

Time For A Major Update
I am reading this book right now The Happiness Project. One of the suggestions in it is too keep the grandparents informed of their grand child. I started this blog 3 (?) years ago with that intent. Now my humble goal is to update this blog once a week. With info about Devi and such.
So where to start. Miss Devi is now a crazy 7 year old.
She is in the second grade now at the Open Class Room. It is a charter school in the avenues in salt lake city. (OCSLC.org) This is a picture of her classroom. We have co-oping days where the parents come in to help. I always go in on Mondays, where I help to do art class. In this picture the kids are learning about cave paintings and then got to make their own cave drawings. It turned out pretty cool, but charcoal is very messy. Notice how black her hands are! :)
Her favorite things to do are play wii, swing, swimming, ride her scooter, do art, play with her friends and her 2 cats. Her favorite music is Kimya Dawson and Amanda Palmer. Her favorite food is Honey dew melons, watermelons, avocados, and German pancakes. Her best friends are still E and M, Kieran, and Lyra.
She loves hosting tea party's. So I thought we would start having monthly tea parties at The Beehive Tea Room or at friends houses.
We had a blast. The tea there is amazing and I think everyone had fun. We had a proper tea.
She started her new school year of awesome. She is doing fantastic in her classes and is having a lot of fun being a mentor for the first graders in her class. She is learning to play chess and is actually pretty good at it. She goes to coffee with me and was playing chess with a guy at the coffee shop and he was impressed at how well she knew all the rules. She has a lot of fun with it which is awesome.
We are currently reading all the Narnia books and close to the end of the series. We are on sliver chair at the moment which is awesome because I have not even read it, yet.
We also have recently bought this fantastic book set that has 3 hard bound completely blank books in it. She is having a really good time designing how she wants her books to look and what she wants the stories to be. She keeps going back and forth if she wants to keep them for her self or design story books for her friends to give away. Her imagination is fantastic and the stories she is coming up with are incredible and imaginative. She is an incredible story teller and writer.
This is my favorite picture of her.
We move farther away so we have to take the train a lot. This is her on the train in the morning. Looking pretty self assured.

She also still really loves to get her face painted. This is her being a zombie a couple months ago during the summer. We have once a month 'Craft Lake City' and she got zombfied there.
Also she has a new cat, we lost skruffy and got a new cat a while ago.
Here is her cat spooky midnight shadow.
Also here is one of her latest paintings that I
actually have a picture of and really like.

May 8th
This was a very exciting sleep over event. I had the help of Teddy and Sir Bunny. We had a very good time. Teddy and Sir Bunny came over Thursday night to help me make Tamales. We stayed up all night making home made chicken tamales from scratch. They turned out so yummy. And also i reconnected with one of my old friends that i used to live with who has a daughter Devis aged named Lyra. She is very cool and has grown up so much since the last time i had seen her. For some reason Teddy and Sir Bunny deciced that they would stay after the kids showed up on friday night. It was so cool. Sir Bunny helped me prepare the whole dinner and Teddy played with the little critters. It was so cute!! Teddy sat on the floor with them and played Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders. He helped build a huge train set and hung out with them to watch Invader Zim. It rocked. I had never seen Teddy with kids before and needless to say my heart melted a bit. All the grown ups helped to paint faces and it was way helpful usually it is only me doing the face painting. Sir Bunny did a rockin job on Micheal's face. The kids even got to turn the paint brush on Teddy and Sir Bunny. That was something to see. Devi painted Teddy to be a white tiget that just ate complete with blood and all. And then Devi and Eli tagged teamed Sir Bunny, He was COVERED. The insides of his ears were painted and his hands and arms. It was intense. But so cute. Devi and Eli were so excited that they got to paint a grown up! It was a way cool night and i for sure am going to have to have Lyra over again! Devi and Lyra got along so well.
I found Devi Pippi Longstocking hair at the Our Store Aids thift store. It is so cool!! We are reading the Pippi Longstocking book right now. It is so fun!!
2 weeks after Zombie jesus day...
